Five things Jesus did NOT say..

1) Jesus did NOT say to “follow your heart.”

🩵Jesus said, “Follow me”. (John 10:27, Matthew 16:24-25, Matthew 19:21)

2) Jesus did NOT say “be true to yourself.”

🩵Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple, must deny himself.” (Luke 14:27, Matthew 16:24-25)

3) Jesus did NOT say “believe in yourself.”

🩵Jesus said, “Believe in me.” (John 11:25-26, John 14:1)

4) Jesus did NOT say “live your truth.”

🩵Jesus said “I am the truth”. (John 14:6)

5) Jesus did NOT say “as long as you’re happy.”

🩵Jesus said, “What will it profit a man if he gains the world and loses his soul?” (Mark 8:36)

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”

Edit: it seems as though many people haven’t gotten my point with this post! The point of this post is to show that we as Christians are supposed to be following God’s plan!

Many people want to make up their own idea of God and make it out to be that God is okay with us doing whatever we want, as long as we believe in him. This is not true! We’re supposed to be living for him, not for ourselves (I’ll be doing a post on this shortly so stay tuned). We should be denying ourselves and taking up our cross DAILY!!

I didn’t say there was anything wrong with believing in yourself. So don’t misinterpret what I’m trying to say here. I don’t think there is anything wrong with believing in yourself, HOWEVER Jesus did not say believe in yourself, follow your heart, or do whatever you want. He said believe in me, follow me, and if you love me, keep my commandments. So that’s what I’m trying to get through with this post!!
