2 years in nanyang isn’t very long, but i’ve made so so so many memories here. here’s some of the things i’ve learnt and will definitely miss:

1. friends 👯‍♀️

as an introvert, i was really scared of making new friends and did not look forward to socialising at all. however, i’m super grateful for meeting friends that i could vibe with and feel comfortable being around! despite having a small social circle, my friends were always there for me, dealing with my up and down emotions 😫 being in the same class and having the same subject combinations, we could relate to the stress from school, having too much work, being constantly burnt out and having them made pulling through jc so much easier 🫶🏻

2. choices and independence

jc is completely different from secondary school. we had to make many choices ourselves and become more independent. for example, choosing the right subject combination, knowing when to prioritise what, how to manage having so much on your plate. through jc, i made many wrong choices but thankfully, i was able to spot and correct them before it was too late!

3. cca 🏒🥅

i was in floorball when i was in j1, which was a big change for me considering that i do not love sports at all and i’m not athletic at all. initially, i joined floorball as it was one of the only few ccas with a vacant spot left and i would rather join something than being “cca-less”. my first year in floorball was really memorable. while training for A-divs, i was constantly pushing myself to my limits, having 8 hours of training per week. with everything being so new and so fresh, i truly looked forward to training. however, i soon lost motivation and had no will to attend training at all, which eventually made me decide to quit the cca in year 2. even though i didn’t achieve much in floorball, i’m forever thankful for this experience and for the friends i’ve made along the way 🥰

4. teachers 🧑‍🏫

i love my teachers!!! in ny, the tutors are really friendly and are always there for you when you need them, be it for consultations or on whatsapp. thank you to all my tutors for being so patient with me and helping my clarify my doubts!

5. school events 🌟

our events are really top tier. in ny, we had one school event at the end of every term and it’s something i always look forward to! the most memorable one is definitely illumiNYte, where we walk around the school at night with glow sticks and take many pictures at the photobooths set up. it was really fun bonding with my friends and jamming to music on the speaker. other events would be the nyght, teachers day celebrations and school treats! (ny always gives free ice cream😋)

6. chasing deadlines 🚨

being in jc always feels like im rushing to finish my tutorials and watch the lecture recordings before the deadline, instead of actually studying and revising my work. as such, i was always lost and could not catch up with what the tutor was going through during tutorials. it was not easy juggling with so much work to do but i soon understood that there is nothing else i can do other than to force myself to stop procrastinating before it snowballs even more.

this year passed by really quickly, it honestly still doesn’t feel real that i’ve graduated. i’ll really miss being in school 😭😭😭 thank you to all my friends, even my hi-bye ones. you guys really made a huge impact on my jc life and i’m forever grateful for all the times we spent together. all the best for A-levels, let’s all do well 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 happy grad!!!!
