Photography 101: Shutter Speed Demystified

Shutter speed decides how long your camera's sensor is exposed to light. There's lots of applications for this- whether you want your shutter to stay open long to let more light in (get more detail when shooting a still object in dark settings) or to capture motion (get a nice motion blur on a moving object).
