How to start getting ARCS

Hello my book loving friends! One of the things that I get asked the most, both here and over on my other social media accounts, is "How do I get ARCs too?"

➡️ (check out my post about Bookish Acronyms if you're not sure what ARCs are - they're basically pre-release editions of a book to drive hype and get reviews in place on sites like Goodreads. Sometimes ARCs are called galleys)

I started my bookstagram account 5 years ago to get ARCs too! I get the desire. Do remember that it's not necessarily a quick or easy process, and you may need to put in a lot of work to get your first ARCs.

1- Create accounts on Edelweiss and Netgalley. These arcs will be digital, and both websites are great platforms to establish yourself as a reviewer. Protip: Be sure you review the e-galleys you get in a timely manner.

2- Join some Influencer programs with your favorite publishers. If you have something to show them (like an active Goodreads, Lemon8 / social media, or even a blog) they'll be more likely to welcome you! I spent almost a year posting daily on my booksta before I got a physical arc.

Other ideas:

✨️ Interact with Authors and Publishers in a meaningful, authentic way on their social media! Support them first, then ask for free stuff.

✨️ Enter giveaways

✨️ Join some B/S/T (buy, sell, trade) groups ! I found mine on FB.

✨️ Check out your local LFL (Little Free Libraries) for ARCs!
