Caught Again: But For Another Reason (Part 5)

He tried explaining what happened, but his excuse was beyond ridiculous. He claimed that the only reason he got caught was because of all the porn on his phone—porn—and that it had nothing to do with upskirting. He acted as if the cops had dragged him through this entire ordeal for just a few videos, like it was no big deal. But how could it possibly be this serious—police storming his house, confiscating his phone and his clothes seen from the CCTV—just for that? He didn’t even try to make sense of it, expecting me to swallow the absurdity without question.

Yet, stupidly, I stayed. I was comfortable with him, too used to our relationship to walk away.

Fast forward to his time in National Service (NS). I had that same gut feeling something was wrong. I went on Instagram, found some of his NS friends, and DMed three of them, asking how he was doing in camp. To my shock, they all had the same story, and everything clicked together.

It turned out he was not only upskirting but also scamming money from his NS friends. He claimed he could get them discounted Apple products, collected their money, and after endless delays, he would say his bank was having issues and he couldn’t refund them. Fed up, his friends complained to their superiors, and they eventually got their money back.

But that wasn’t the worst of it. He lied to them about his life, saying he was rich, lived an extravagant lifestyle, making them believe he was reliable and trustworthy.

If you thought the only bad thing he did was the upskirting, no! He did so much more in the army that his reputation was in tatters. He had said and done so much shady stuff that everyone knew him—for all the wrong reasons. He was infamous.

One night, I waited for him at a nearby shopping mall for him to book out of camp at 9pm. But he never contacted me, even after 2-3 hours. Feeling something was off, I gave up and made the long 1hr journey home. Hours later, around 3am, he finally messaged me—but from his laptop. His phone had been confiscated by his army camp.

It turns out, they were investigating him for something serious.

If you thought the upskirting was the only case, you’d be wrong. This was case #2 .
