when meeting new people, I think the first step (finding commonalities) is especially important. finding shared interests, beliefs and opinions helps us build trust in the other person which makes us feel safe to open up further. it allows you to feel like you are more similar than different. no matter how different your life may seem from someone, you absolutely have something in common. we are all more alike than we think which is actually so comforting.

once you nail the first step, I think steps two, three and four will come naturally as long as your being present and conscious engaged. read the energy. it’s about finding the yin and yang. talk and listen. teach and learn. give and receive.
