almost all of my closet is secondhand & vintage

~ in honor of secondhand september!

this is very ‘pick me energy’ but I have been secondhand shopping farrr before it was cool due to my parents enjoying it! I have vivid memories of myself as a child going garage sale’ing with my mom and little sister. we’ve drive around searching for neon signs on light poles and on yard signs.

this turned into a love for actual thrift shops as well! there was this one in my grandparents downtown that had “bag days” and you could get anything in the store you wanted that fit into / filled up one paper grocery bag for $10. I was hooked! when I was 14 I bought tons of denim jeans and cut them into distressed shorts. this was the days before big fashion retailers did that so I had a lot of demand and actually sold them to a local boutique and did custom orders.

fast forward 12 years and it’s no surprise that I own a secondhand and vintage shop now. I personally have sold 10,000+ thrifted items that I’ve found which is wild if I think about how much time, effort and energy went into making that happen.

but it’s truly a passion and feels like the right thing to do. once you know about all of the horrible practices of fast fashion, it makes it hard to partake with a clean conscious.
