A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A AFTERSCHOOL TEACHER

Hi. My Name is Allisha also Known as AKA MS. A . I work for Queens Community Houses and this is the Best Job I can Ask for. When I started working here I was so nervous I though I was going to be an Out-caster and no one would want to talk to me or I’ll have lunch by myself but this job taught me a lot of things . I’ve worked with kids before and I took a break from it due to me trying different occupations. But I Decided to become a Kindergarten afterschool teacher and it’s been the best thing so far in my life. When I worked with kindergarten in the beginning , it was the hardest thing for me since I haven’t done this in a while. But the children came with open arms. After that, I knew I wanted to stay. Being a kindergarten comes with a lot of Patience and a lot of understanding. I had to understand that they can’t be rushed with academics but when they know they’re ready to do it then Time is very steady for them. What I learned is that regular school teachers teach them a certain way of learning different academic and as an afterschool teacher it’s our duty to learn and grow with the ways of the school teachers. So when our children comes to the program is our duty to have patience and also teacher ways to understand the teachers methods. It’s also a lesson for me because I’m learning there academics as we go with the school so that gives me enough smartness to teacher my daughter at home. Also When I became a school teacher , I had to become more into lesson planning. That was a hard one for me but now I know how to plan the lesson and how to communicate it to the toddlers . What I also learn is that I’ve became more into art works and doodling with my kids shows me that Im an artist and didn’t even know. I can say that I’m one of the teachers who will tell you I like clocking in/ clocking out . I truly never have a sad day.All I can say is that I love this for me because I always be a mother first and because I’m so fond of learning new things to bring to my daughter it’s just make me wanna stay longer in this career.
