My favorite Bible study tools

Okay let’s be get real for a second..

Until I was older and got out on my own I thought Bible study was extremely boring. I was raised Baptist, by two old folk who thought highlighting or making up a bible was a sin. I wasn’t supposed to take notes in church but to sit and be seen but not heard.

This really turned me off for anything to do with Christianity for such a long time. I had these memories in my mind and that’s the only thing I could think of and I really did not want a relationship with Jesus Christ.

I wasn’t allowed to have a personality other than a quiet girl who sits and listens. That’s just not who I am as a person.

(It wasn’t just not being allowed to do things that turned me away but also how I was treated in the church)

It took me a long time to understand that the actions of people who hurt or offended me were not the actions of Jesus himself. Just people who claimed to have him in their hearts.

Now that I am an adult I have found such a deep love in studying the Bible but it wasn’t an instant connection. It took reading many different versions Of the Bible, because for some reason my mind couldn’t comprehend most of what was happening and I would zone out. This study Bible was made for women and has thorough explanations for what is happening and why it is happening, and also includes things like language study, it takes everyday concepts and applies them to exactly what is happening in the book you’re reading. It has been a total game changer for me.

The Bible case, pens, and tabs of course aren’t necessary for studying but they do provide color and personality. It makes it feel less intimidating for me to pick up and dive into daily devotions.
