(no spoilers) Honest Review of GOTG VOL.3

So I recently I was lucky enough to get invited to catch the preview of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and wah as a Marvel fan I really loved this movie.

Overall the flow of the plot was pretty standard with Marvel’s ‘defeating the villain’ usual storyline with a few twists but they weren’t that surprising. But I still really enjoyed the actual content of the movie itself, and the script itself (as most GOTG movies are) was actually really funny with their bantering. I like how they managed to weave in quite a few movie themes pretty effectively with lots of comedy (ofc cus thats what GOTG is known for) and action. It was even quite heartwarming and touching for some parts. Me and my friend even joked that it had lowkey horror elements too cause we keep getting jumpscared.

The CGI was good and considering that GOTG always has a lot of animal-like beings and creatures, it was really impressive with the way the managed to do that to such detail (AND TO SO MANY CHARACTERS)

I would say certain things that I was iffy about was they way they introduced new characters. Recently, Marvel had been having a habit of introducing characters solely for either plot convenience or like to just bring them in for future movies. While that’s okay sometimes, I just felt like a few characters in this movie were very touch and go and I didn’t really get to know them properly (which was a waste cause I really liked one of them). I would even go so far as to say that one of the characters was lowkey a convenient deux ex machina for one part.

Also the movie was extremely gory and gross so be prepared for that if thats not something you’re into and the costumes can be abit disturbing sometimes.

I think overall the movie was a pretty good watch. It didn’t have the flashy and super crazy scenes and tone of many other movies like maybe Black Panther 2 and Shangchi but it did have a Wow factor with their touching storyline and heartwarming theme. Wouldn’t say the movie was too integral to the MCU storyline but I enjoyed that it was a pretty standalone film instead of being too complex. Overall would give it a 7.5/10. Its out May 4 in cinemas (but some cinemas are already showing it for their premiere seats) so go watch it!
