How I help my toddler through a tantrum

The tantrum phase …. I think she’s 1-4 are the hardest for this. I definitely learned the best route when handling a tantrum with my son and here’s what works.

1) stay calm! Do not add fuel to the fire.

2) understand their feelings. let them know you understand how they’re feeling.

3) sit with them. just sit and let them know you’re there. if they’re old enough, ask if they want a hug or to be left alone right now

4) after the tantrum has passed and they are calm, sit with them and talk about it. The feelings, how to work through the feelings, etc.
