swimming safety tips

with summer approaching i thought I’d share what we do to keep our kids safe while swimming.

1) always wear a life jacket even if they can touch

— within reason, like a splash pad, or if we are in the water we will let him take it off if it’s shallow.

2) consistent swim lessons

— my son started swimming lessons at 10 months old! it’s never too soon to get them used to the water. now we do private swimming lessons every summer and he is improving so much!

3) floaties are not life saving devices. Don’t rely on them

— do not trust anything that is not coast guard approved

4) bright colored suits. no blue!

— neon/bright colored suits always! Unless we are going to a splash pad or something like that.
