this can be THE most frustrating feeling at work! in order to get a micromanager off of your back, it takes some strategic work and proactive communication.

I like to think of it as "managing up." here's how to tackle it:

* Try to figure out WHY they are micromanaging you so that you can address it

* Start proactively communicating updates, questions, etc with them. This way, they feel less like they need to reach out to you on their own

* Plan ahead and ensure they're aware of your timelines

* Set boundaries when needed. Don't be afraid to professionally tell a micromanager that "you're happy to take the lead, and will reach out if any questions arise!"
