McKenzie River Trail

•The McKenzie River Trail is one of my favorite trails to hike in all of Oregon. This beautiful trail leads you to Tamolitch Falls (Blue Pool).

•This trail begins in Willamette National Forest. It is a 3.9 mile out and back trail and it takes approximately 2 1/2 hours to complete! This trail is fairly easy and can most likely be completed by almost anyone. It is mostly flat the whole way to the blue pool. You will be walking along the McKenzie River the whole time. There are so many beautiful views and places to sit down and relax in under the trees.

•Another great thing about this trail is that the trees provide a pretty great sun covering! Because you are deep into the forest it is mostly shaded. If you are doing it in the summer it still can get pretty hot so I would recommend starting this hike earlier in the morning! We began our hike around 7:30am and it was perfect but did start getting warm on our way back!

•Once you reach the end of the trail you will arrive at Tamolitch Blue pool. This is a 30 feet deep turquoise pool that is about 37° F year around. The water is so cold that it hurts to touch. Swimming is not recommended however some people do jump in. Stay safe and enjoy the view! It’s incredible!
