Why I’ll never have another Baby Shower

Don’t get me wrong, it was lots of fun and I’m so grateful for the love and everything we received! However, there are a few reasons why I wouldn’t do it again, in case anyone out there is having trouble debating to have one, maybe this could help!

I’m not exactly a minimalist, but I don’t like having extra things that don’t get used. We were gifted so much stuff that never got used, and I felt guilty when it came to donating or returning things. A lot of items I kept and they just took up space. There also came a sense of guilt that I HAD to use things just because they were gifted. But then, my daughter ended up wearing more of the gifted outfits and using gifted items than the ones I picked out, or would have picked out myself.

Things I’ve gotten rid of:

•tons of baby towels/washcloths

•many outfits

•2 bathtubs

•boppy pillow

•like 8 swaddles

•about 10 pacifiers

•bottles

•shampoos and soaps

•hygiene sets

•a Hatch sound machine

•blankets, burp cloths

•lots of socks and baby shoes, bows, hats

Let me add that I had a very specific baby registry, but it doesn’t matter how much you try, people WILL NOT follow it!!

And i am also very grateful for the thoughts and good intentions with these gifts but I guess I’m just picky? And I felt like people had wasted their money because I didn’t end up using the things I received. And there were some amazing things I was gifted that I did use!!!

But this just goes to say why I won’t be doing it again! 🩷🩷
