what to do near MT FUJI 🗻🍤🍱

hello #lemon8 !

with almost 50% of sporeans in japan and another 50% in korea, i coincidentally fall into one of the groups,, so sit tight cos some kind of japan series is comin up 🤣

mt fuji is definitely the star of japan but what to do if you wna venture outside of the mt fuji area? here are some recommendations on what to do in shizuoka based on my recent trip!

🏠 moon valley guesthouse

we stayed at this guesthouse that is deep in the mountains so it was quiet and relaxing~ the hosts were really sweet and provided us with really delicious traditional jap bfast !! would recommend if you have a car!

🗻 nihondaira yume terrace

we came to this place since it was said to be a mt fuji viewing spot but as expected, shy mt fuji didnt want to greet us. opposite from the terrace is a tea shop which has tea picking experience from

apr-oct but we didnt try as they didnt seem too friendly to us :( the shizuoka area is famous for their green tea so be sure to try it out!

🍥 shimizu fish market

a local delicacy is sakura shrimp as the deep waters in the area are perfect for them to grow! try it raw or fried (aka kakiage) at the fish market. if you love raw fish, you would definitely have lots of options to choose from!

🛍️ s-pulse dream plaza

we went to this mall to kill some time but honestly there wasnt much other than the arcade so you could probably give it a miss

🌊 miho no matsubara

another spot for mt fuji viewing but even if you cant see mt fuji, it is a good spot to enjoy and snap some pics at the beach and the line of pine trees!

🍢 oden street (aoba yokocho)

shizuoka is known for its jet black broth and fishcake made from minced horse mackerel (kuro-hanpen), so we went to the oden street to try it out. there are a few of these "street" in the area which have small shops with 5-10 counter seats where locals usually drink and eat. we didnt know which was good so we randomly went into a grandma's shop with seats and luckily she had a menu with korean, chinese and english. we just ordered "2 sets" in her words and she picked out the oden for us but we honestly didnt know what some of them were 🤣 ps smoking was allowed inside most stalls

🍤 浜のかきあげや

this is a place specialising in sakura shrimp, famous amongst locals! they are only opened on fridays & weekends. you could get a number before they open at 10am and order according to ur number at 10am or join the physical queue after 10am. we reached around 10.45am and queued about 1.5h. there were 6 items on the menu and we got all except the kakiage rice bowl. the raw shrimp is very fresh and meaty and the kakiage is very dense with a good shrimp taste! would recommend to queue to try the local specialty ~
