I hate the whole #girlmath #corporategirlie trend

I am not sure why, but these phrases just don’t sit well with me. The same way I don’t like when older men (especially) at the office call someone “girl”.

I get that it’s a fun way to talk about the mental gymnastics (usually?) ladies do to justify a purchase but frankly I don’t think it’s just limited to the ladies.

I just find this infantilising. At the workplace I feel I have to assert myself constantly, much more than men so this phrase just grinds my gears. Once, I received feedback saying that I am very fierce in my emails - it was my regular email style that I learned from my female boss early on in my career, and I was sure it would have been fine if I were a man.

Anyway, I acknowledge it’s completely fine for us females to reclaim or reappropriate this word girl/girlie but to me these hashtags just sound so frivolous and further emphasise the stereotypical lack of logic / sense in females, and that we are not capable of serious work.

That said I get that it’s trendy and funny…. just not my type of humour I guess.
