Hello friends!!! Hope you’re having a good time out there. Hari Raya celebrations have been draining me out and it made me come on here to talk about #pain and some pain management tips that I have experimented with.

My Autoimmune Condition called Ankylosing Spondylitis affects my spine and lower back, and sometimes me joints, causing what I call a flare up.

Flare ups usually come about when I’m almost due for my bi-weekly jabs, or just when i’m over exerted.

Pain has always been with me for most of my life, and the most difficult part of dealing with a chronic illness is the pain and fatigue that comes with it.

Though it may never go away, let me share with you some great pain relief methods that may work for you!:

✨ICE COMPRESSION HAT:

- If you suffer from frequent migraines, an iced compression hat can work wonders!!! Whenever a migraine/ headache attack comes, I would get my boyfriend to give my head a real good squeeze (freaky i know 😖) but he can’t be constantly squashing my head so I got a compression hat from shopee and it worked great as pain relief for migraines!!!

It came in handy for my wisdom teeth removal recovery as well: the ice helped with the swelling and pain hehe 🦷

⚡️ TENS MACHINE:

- Although the description of it’s mechanism freaked me out a lot (it sends some electrical pulses through ur skin to get to the nerves in your muscles)

I was able to get over the zapping and it turned out to be super helpful with period cramps, muscle aches and even for some of my back pain from inflammation!

The zapping actually “distracts” you from the pain, redirecting the nerves to focus on the zapping instead of the area in pain, and it provides unlimited pain relief as it does not have a limit to the usage, unlike painkillers.

Its a great alternative for people who can’t take painkillers!

💊💉 PAINKILLERS/ MEDICATION:

- I’m no stranger to prescription medication, when my drawers are full of painkillers, ranging from muscle relaxants, to nerve pain medication.

There’s a huge misconception to when you should start taking painkillers, and that it can cause a “dependency” or “addiction” to it.

For people who are suffering from pain, the best way for managing it is to take your painkillers when the flare up starts to come at the beginning, and not when it’s unbearable, because it can stop it from worsening!

These little pain meds can be super helpful in managing chronic pains, but make sure to get a prescription and advice from your specialist before starting on any meds!

I’m taking my immune suppressant injections every 2 weeks, and some painkillers to help with my inflammation whenever I need it, and its great!

⏰ ACTIVITY PACING!!!

- It is so important to check-in with your body every now and then, especially after a tedious day or week. Sometimes, we might overload ourselves physically and mentally with too many tasks, only ending up to wreck our body because we forget to slow down ☹️

Remember to pace your activities and take things slow whenever your body tells you too.

Your body speaks to you in many ways, and one of it is through pain!!! If the soreness in your back is too much, or that shoulder is too tense, thats a big sign for you to slow down and give your body a break.

SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPING DOES NOT MEAN YOURE GIVING UP OR WEAK: it is simply you respecting your body’s boundaries and loving yourself. 😌

-

If you’re currently suffering from pain, whether chronic or sudden, be sure to get it checked out! Theres no need to feel like you’re “weak” when

you’re unable to tolerate pain, or feel like you have a “low pain tolerance” because PAIN IS PAIN, and your body is TRYING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING!!!

Listen to your body, because you know what you’re feeling.

If you’re struggling to talk about pain, or if it’s debilitating and you don’t know where to start, PLEASE reach out to me or someone you trust to help you regain back your life! you don’t have to live in pain and suffer on your own.

With that, I hope that these information i’ve shared helps everyone stay healthy and happy!!! Byebye!!!
