why i paid $200 more than dior for gucci

i’m a basic girlie and i like what i like, even if it may feel like an overrated trend to some. i’m not ashamed to embrace what i like.

i wanted to get the dior dway slides because i really love the whole dior embroidery aesthetic, but at the last second changed my mind and got the gucci marmont slides!

at the time of purchase, this was the price of both slides

- dior dway $900

- gucci marmont $1150

i love dior sm but i can’t say the same about gucci. the only line i truly like in gucci is the marmont line and even then i only like these items

- slides

- cardholder

- half moon bag

everything else is just 🤮don’t even get me started on the jackie

but then i was in the market for a new pair of trusty slides the marmont slides were something that really rocked my dior boat

here’s why

📍it looks more casual format compared to the dway.

i can pair a formal dress with it or a pair of jeans without changing the look and feel, i can’t say so much about the dway, which makes most outfits feel more casual when paired (i’m a dress UP person, and i prefer to dress formally to casually)

📍 comfort - the gucci marmont slides has a thick layer of strap which makes it so kind to my feet, compared to the dway which is considerably thinner.

📍 leather VS canvas ironic since i have the book tote but shoes are different. IT IS EASIER TO CARE FOR BAGS THAN FOR SHOES 👏🏻 leather is definitely more durable, and easier to clean if you get dirt on them.

i hope this helps when you are considering between two luxury brands! if you’re not high SES like me, remember not to choose the brand, make good use of your dollars and get your money worth out of every single luxury purchase.

it is also good to befriend an SA so they will always let you know when there are sales!

even if im just browsing a store, i make it a point to try and talk to the SAs and network with them, so that whenever there’s a sale, they’ll drop me a text and let me know.
