Beating the Sunday Scaries | Rochester

I love living in Upstate, NY…50% of the time. When the sun shines, I’m Upstate’s biggest fan. Took advantage of cherry blossom season and went for a picnic in Highland Park. John is away for a meet per usual so it’s just me, my camera, and an iced latte from Melo! Caffeine is essential for hot girl picnics ☕️

One of the reasons I fell in love with Upstate began with Syracuse, where I lived for 6 years before moving to Rochester. I lived in the heart of downtown Syracuse above a sports pub and, compared to a larger metropolitan area, it felt more like a village than a city. It spawned this sense of community that made you feel connected and rooted. You could spend your days strolling the streets of downtown, hopping between cafes and boutiques. If you needed a sense of fresh air, you could make the short drive to Canada, the Adirondacks, or Ithaca gorges.

However, Upstate is known for its affinity towards snow. And THAT’S where the love affair with this entire area gets messy. I spend half of the year under clouds and cold weather…but when the sun comes out, there is no better place than Upstate NY.
