#storytime I GREW UP IN A CULT🙂‍↕️

ahh where do i start? so i grew up in a cult that my mom used to be apart of but left like 9 years ago. it’s a fairly common religious organization. i only just now realized it was a cult through research and gaining knowledge about other known cults and finding similarities. they use manipulation and mind control tactics to brainwash and control members and have them distrust themselves. it’s really scary.

after my mom left, she was shunned by the entire congregation and even by her own mom and brother. i was put in the middle of it all being told “you can bring her back”. that’s a lot of pressure for a teenager lol.

the religious leaders tell members not to research the organization. hmm i wonder why?? it’s because there are endless amounts of information about them and even communities of ex members recounting their experience and trauma of being in the organization. is it true faith if you have to avoid any and everything that goes against your beliefs in hopes that you don’t change your mind?

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

there is so much more i could get into about this cult, but that would take me forever lol. just know that there are layers to this sh*t. 😅
