While I love makeup, I donāt succumb to all the new releases. Iāve been on a makeup low buy for about 3 years now and during these 3 years I have built a makeup collection that Iām very happy with- almost all makeup I own is very much loved and well used, with few exceptions, which I will address in this post š¤«
All the makeup pictured is makeup that I either bought through my love for a brand or just simply by influence from other makeup lovers. Iām not saying that this makeup or makeup brand is bad, I just have learned that it is not something I enjoy using or it doesnāt work for me.
3CE New Take Palette in āMotion Frameā - Iāve been obsessed with 3CE and when they launched this release my bones were aching for this palette! The 3CE eyeshadows are one of my favorites, but this palette was a huge disappointment for me. The palette is not bad, itās very beautiful and the shades work well, but theyāre not as good as their usual palettes and this palette in particular doesnāt live up to the $54 price tag, itās just.. okay š¬
Rare Beauty- here I have included two products from the brand- the Discovery Palette and the Melting Cream Blush. I find the eyeshadows in the palette good, but the packaging and the pans are a little awkward. The melting cream blush is one of the cutest blush compacts that I have in my collection and for that reason I have never been able to declutter it, but the formula of the blush itself is just not it- the formula is soft, but it also reminds me of playdough. It doesnāt apply really well and honestly the swatch in the photo above just tells the whole story š„²
Dior- so I have 3 products from Dior that personally to me do not live up to the hype. First, the backstage eyeshadow palette- it was on my wishlist for so long and when I finally got my hands on it, it was kind of like ādo not meet your heroesā moment š„“ the eyeshadows are terrible, worse than the previously mentioned 3CE palette. They are dry, thereās barely any pigment and the shimmer shades also seem to develop a hard pan, which I rarely have any issues with my other makeup palettes. This palette is one of my biggest disappointments š„²
Then the Rosy Glow Blush- I know that everyone seems to love these and Dior has re-released them, so maybe theyāve been improved, but no matter how much I tried to convince myself that I like it, I never really reached for it. The pan itself looks very bright and fun, but upon application itās very soft and this Coral tone on me looks like I rubbed a yellow carrot on my cheek. I sometimes like a yellow blush but this just makes me look like Iām sick š the powder itself doesnāt pick up really well- Iām fair and it takes a while to build up the pigment.
The Lip Glow Oil-Everyone and their mother seems to love this. And I like it too! But! Itās not worth the $40 dollars when there are so many other lip oils on the market. There is nothing special about this product really š¬
Iāve been on a good powder hunt this year and Iāve heard so many good things about the By Terry Hyaluronic Powder. The powder is really good actually, but it just doesnāt work on my combo skin unfortunately ā¹ļø my skin looks flawless whenever I use this until my oils are starting to break everything apart 30 mins later š I can only imagine how great this powder is for those with dry skin! I guess this powder is not as much of a regret as much as a heartbreak that it doesnāt work for me š¤Ŗ
In conclusion, I have noticed that it takes me just one bad product to be put off by the brand, so I havenāt been interested in anything from Rare Beauty and Dior. As for 3CE, I think I might give them another chance, see if they will release anything fun soon again! (Though they do love to just repackage existing products š„“)
