The Ordinary products that are actually good

As a skincare enthusiast, I’ve tried alot of The Ordinary already, and I can safely say that none of them really impressed me! It sometimes even angers me that there’s such a cult following for some of their products that I think are horrible *coughs… niacinamide serum.. coughs… hyaluronic serum… coughs*

Even though I can hold off buying products, since I have so many waiting to be used, I just had to get these on my 3rd visit to DECIEM (when I was in UK). Yes, I resisted the first 2 times haha!

I was experiencing a bout of breakouts so I wanted to give the new anhydrous salicylic 2% a shot! (I also picked up the Azelaic acid and moisturising scalp serum that I won’t be touching on in this review.)

Previously, I tried their salicylic 2% solution and it didn’t help with my acne. But hearing that this one was water-free, in a base of squalane, somehow intrigued me - this formulation seemed like it would perform better AND IT DID!

After just one use, I see an evident improvement in my acne condition when I use this in my night routine. The best part is that it’s really thin, so it doesn’t interfere with the rest of your skincare routine 🤗 I like how this is in a dropper, and is versatile in how you can spot treat or use as a serum! It didn’t give me any irritation when I used it, nor did it dry out my skin (due to the moisturising properties of squalane).

Some words of caution: if you’re using this, stay clear of other strong actives like AHA, Vit Cs or Vit As if your skin gets sensitised easily! When I use this at night, I may get more stinging from Vit C in the morning routine.

This might be my top The Ordinary pick at the moment 😍 Have you tried this? Recommend for anyone who is normal-oily, who wants to decongest their pores, or regulate their acne.
