Water fear

Hi I’m new here and I just going discuss my fear of water. More specifically, fear having water in my face. Though warning it’s going to contain some trauma.

So when I was younger my mom would wash my hair in bathtubs and when she’d rinse it she’d push my head to dunk it the water. Even if I wanted to get up she’d push it down making me scared to to drown. Also maybe the fact of almost getting drowned accidentally when I didn’t know how to swim didn’t help. I did get rescued by the person who did it dw. But now even in shower or baths I can’t have my forehead too under the water or I’ll panic. My gf and I take showers sometimes and I trust her touching my hair (it’s curly) and even she does my hair I have to kind grab on her as a way to not panic or think something bad will happen. I’ve gotten better it use to be worse that would wash my face in the sink in fear.

I don’t know how to really overcome this fear but I’m willing take suggestions if any! But thank you for reading.#fear
