The tragedy of my curly hair balayage 🫠

The balayage itself was great and I LOVED it at the beginning… but I wasn’t caring for my curly hair well enough to compensate for the harshness of the dye.

Here’s what happened:

• I wasn’t getting frequent enough trims. This caused the split ends to move further up my hair causing all the thinning you see throughout the bottom half of my hair.

• I wasn’t getting enough moisture. I have since learned that because my hair is curly, weekly hair oiling and leave in conditioner are a must.

• I wasn’t using a microfiber towel and a silk pillow case. This was causing more breakage and damage at the ends and overall was disrupting my hair texture.

• I wasn’t using the correct color hydrating shampoo and conditioner. In fact, I wasn’t using color care products at all. It’s so important to change your shampoo/conditioner style with the changes of your hair.

I had the balayage for a little less than a year and then I ended up dying my hair back to its natural color and cutting it to shoulder length to get rid of all that damage.
