Is Acting the right Career for you?

I'm going to get into what I believe it takes to be an actor, aside from knowing how to act of course haha! Let's get into the top two character traits that I think are absolutely necessary and prevalent in a strong actor:

1. Resilience: Defined as the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties. The world of acting can be difficult in terms of rejections and uncertainty. You success isn't fully in your hands. You go to auditions and leave without knowing if you landed the role or not. It's definitely a difficult process for people not used to uncertainty or rejection. You have to keep your head held high and move on to the next.

2. Empathy: Defined as the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. Acting is about stepping into another person's shoes and feeling what they feel. Knowing how a character that you are playing feels is so important in order to portray the emotion as an actor. I think that empathy allows you to connect deeply with your characters and bring authenticity to your roles.
