Flour: 1 cup of all-purpose flour. You can use whole-wheat flour if you prefer a healthier option.

Sugar: 1 cup of granulated sugar. If you want a different taste, you can try brown sugar or coconut sugar instead.

Milk: 1 cup of milk. Almond milk or soy milk can be used if you are lactose intolerant or prefer a non-dairy option.

Baking Powder: 1 teaspoon of baking powder. There isn’t really a substitute for this, as it’s essential for the cobbler to rise.

Salt: A pinch of salt to enhance the flavors. You can use sea salt or kosher salt if available.

Butter: 4 tablespoons of melted butter. For a healthier choice, you can use margarine or coconut oil.

Blackberries: 2 cups of fresh or frozen blackberries. If you can’t find blackberries, you can use raspberries, blueberries, or a mix of berries.

Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. This adds a warm flavor to the cobbler. Pumpkin pie spice or nutmeg could be used if you want a different twist.

Lemon Juice: A few tablespoons to sprinkle over the berries. This is optional but helps brighten the flavors. You can use lime juice as a substitute.

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).

Prepare the skillet: Spray a 10-inch cast iron skillet with cooking spray. Add butter to the skillet and place it in the oven. Let the butter melt completely.

Mix the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 1/4 cups sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

Add milk: Gradually stir in 1 cup of milk until the mixture is smooth.

Prepare the berries: In a separate bowl, combine:

2 cups fresh blackberries

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons sugar

Pour the batter: Remove the hot skillet from the oven using a potholder. Carefully pour the batter into the skillet on top of the melted butter.

Add the berries: Evenly arrange the blackberries over the batter.

Bake: Place the skillet back in the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Cool slightly: Let the cobbler cool for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to thicken.

Serve: Enjoy your skillet blackberry cobbler warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! #recipesfromscratch #skilletdessert #castiron #baking #cobbler #recipes
