CHEAP DIGICAMS IN HONG KONG 📸

when i was planning for my hk trip, i saw @yeggy ‘s post on digicams in hk (please go check out her post!! idk why i can’t link it 🥲) and i immediately slapped this onto my day 1 itinerary HAHA

i’m super easily influenced and with the current digi-cam trend and i was dying to own one myself. however, the digis you can source in sg are all wayyy above my budget 💸 (~sgd $200) and i just couldn’t bring myself to splurge that much on a trend with a shelf life 😭

📸 where did i get it from?

new gaodeng computer plaza 新高登電腦廣場 -> paste in google maps! nearest MTR station 🚉 : sham shui po

it’s a dingy old mall BUT don’t let looks fool you. walk up to the second floor and you’ll immediately see two digicam shops with HUNDREDS of cameras displayed waiting for you! you can test all of the cameras (yes, they all have batteries in them!) freely, the store owners are super helpful and encourage you to try! they can even recommend some to you based on your preferences.

📸 which camera did i get?

i got the cybershot dsc-w350 in pink! it has a few scratches to it’s exterior but i don’t mind it BC ITS PINK 🥰 i already had my heart set on a cybershot (esp the pink) so i didn’t mind the scratches or the slightly higher price tag 🏷️

i saw a lot of other famous brands and models as well: panasonic lumix, nikon coolpix, casio exilim, samsung… any many more!

📸 what’s the price point?

i paid hkd $570 for mine (hkd $600 before bargaining), which is roughly sgd $97.40! it’s quite a good deal given that cybershots are usually > $200 in singapore 😬

the cameras range from hkd $200 - $800 (from those that i saw) so you can definitely get one at an incredibly reasonable price!

besides the camera, the price included an SD card (2GB) and a universal battery charger so you can start snapping ASAP. also, they sell SD card readers that you can plug directly into your phone to download the pics, highly recommended if you want to download all your pictures on the go 😋

i included some shots i took on my trip in this post! am super happy with my purchase and have been trigger-happy since acquiring the camera, so no regrets yet! if you’re looking to get a digi-cam and you’re heading to hk soon… don’t miss out on this hidden gem! 🫶🏻
