Points are the easiest way to fly for free (unless you have rich family members, in which case - can you loan them to me?).

If you're loyal to an airline, you'll want to look into their credit card as they tend to have high point accrual for purchases with the airline or their partners.

But if you're like me and fly a different airline on every trip - you've got options! They key is to build a wallet of credit cards that will give you the most amount of points for the areas that you spend the most in (for example rent, auto, restaurants, etc.).

I personally like the offerings from Chase because their system allows you to combine points from multiple cards to transfer to airline partners. I have one card that has a high points rewards for restaurants & entertainment and another that has high rewards for travel. Since I travel full-time, my travel card means I get points for all my hotels, airbnbs, and flights. When I'm in each destination, I tend to spend the most on restaurants & entertainment, so this combo covers almost all of the purchases I make. If your biggest expense is rent, try the BILT card as it's one of the only one that provides rewards for rent!

Bonus Tip: These cards usually have partner programs that allow you to earn even more points on everyday purchases. For example, my travel card has a partnership with lyft where I get 10x points on all lyft rides!
