Burnout is a real thing, and if you’re not careful, it can really affect you in a negative way mentally.

Signs of burn out:

- Irritable

- Low energy

- Tired

- Sick

- Headaches

- Increased hunger or decreased hunger

And so much more…

Lately I’ve been really focusing on strategies to recognize and manage burnout before it happens, or while it’s happening, so that I can get through it quicker.

1. Get away from your screens

Social media and any form of screen time can play a negative role in your ability to manage burnout. It might seem nice to sit back and relax while scrolling through phone or binge watching your favorite TV show, but it’s not actually addressing the problem at hand, and may leave you feeling guilty if you’re already taking time away from work, school, etc.

2. Do a reset

Sometimes we experience burnout because our daily demands change quicker than our routine does. It’s okay to change your routine to better suit your lifestyle and doing so may even allow you to see where the problem is coming from! Go back to the drawing board and reset.

3. Give your body and mind a break

You’re burnt out for a reason. Whether it’s physical or mental exhaustion, your body and mind need a break so that it can get stronger again. Allow yourself the time to relax and renew so that you can come back better than ever. Go for a walk, write, paint, draw, do yoga…anything that will get your mind off of what’s burning you out is the best.
