A pre wedding shoot is expected for most weddings. You’ll need the photos for your wedding invites, wedding video, wedding decor, slides for the actual day and more. Even if you do not plan to have a wedding banquet, a photoshoot with your soon-to-be spouse is definitely one for the memories!

My partner and I decided that we did not want to spend a large sum of money on our pre wedding shoot. Bridal studios and wedding photographers charge a premium of more than $1k and we decided to DIY to save cost.

We rallied friends and family who could wield a camera and did the rest ourselves. I did my own makeup (though I did splurged on eyelash extensions for that full glam look), curled my hair, and compiled all the necessary props for the photoshoot. My partner and I also researched poses that we liked and tried to replicate them during our shoot.

Overall, we spent about $300 for our own DIY pre wedding shoot. It was a super fun experience and we didn’t feel any awkwardness taking photos as we were with friends and family. This is something you and your partner should definitely consider!
