Having a Korea sim card is a life saver!

Ever since Korea ease its Covid-19 restriction, the on-arrival PCR test was scrapped, which means you do not need to get a sim card with a number anymore. I couldn't decide if I should just get an e-sim for data usage or get a sim card with Korean phone number. I travelled last year in April where on-arrival PCR was mandatory so you must get a sim card with Korean number.

I went back to the previous website which I bought my sim card from and saw that they have increase the price to $30+. And I'm heading to Korea in March to see Cherry Blossoms cause i went too late last year that I didn't managed to see any😭So....After doing lots of research, I found this super reliable and affordable sim card. It's called Chingu Mobile, and you have to order it online and you can opt to collect it at the airport or at any of their stores. They have a total of 7 other brunch (Konkuk,Hongdae,Kynughee,SKKU,Chungang,Shinchon,Korea Uni) all near the university for easy collection! So I ordered mine online, and paid via PayPal with my youtrip card and collected mine at the airport and activated it online with their online customer service! Also, I got it cause it was easier to call my family members in case we got separated.

While in Korea, we went to many famous cafes and restaurants. I realised that most of these cafes restaurants have an Ipad outside and it uses an app called Catch Table. You'll have to key in your Korean phone number to get a queue number, and they won't entertain you if you don't have a Korean phone number. I've approach the staff and they just direct me outside to the Ipad and say everything is through the Ipad. So after you key in the number of pax, and your name and phone number you'll get a queue number. Then you'll have to download Kakao Talk, and you will get updates and the cafe or restraunts will communicate through Kakao Talk. Catch Table will also send you a link to check on the status of your queue number and they will notify you to start walking back when you are 3 numbers away from your queue number and the staff will call your phone number.

This is super important! Because for example London Bagel Museum, Cafe Onion, Oncheonjip and Cheong Su Dang is so popular that there are so many people even if I went earlier. I reached London Bagel Museum at 8.30am and there were soooo many people. So I just proceed to the ipad and got a queue number through Catch Table, and the wait time, 1 hr for take-aways and 2 hours for dine-in. I just took a queue number and went to Cafe Onion and there was a snaking queue. Dine-in and take-out was 2 hrs wait too. After taking queue number, I walked around anguk,went into prop shops, and even went to a park filled with Cherry Blossoms and took many cute pictures. And before I know it, time passed so quickly and I received a notification that my queue number is next up and I came back to London Bagel to get my take-out order and just nice my queue number for Anguk is up and I just walked there for dine in. I didn't waste time queuing and waiting around like the rest as they didn't have a Korean phone number so they couldn't register on Catch Table.
