Ranking my Solo Costumes

6. Devil: This is one of those simple looks that you need in your back pocket if you're going out for a messy, drunken halloween night. An elevated devil, with some texture but still simple enough to be at the bar or at a house party. (Wore this with flared red pants!)

5. Snooki: How could I not include this look? Yes, it's mostly for the instagram photo. But idc cuz I ate this up frankly. The grid post was in fact popping. Plus I think Snooki is just so easily recognizable as a costume. If you have the pieces to recreate one of her many iconic looks, this is a great last minute costume.

4. Pirate: Another more basic costume idea, BUT every pirate costume looks different from each other. There are so many pirate looks to draw inspiration from and you can make this costume 100% unique just from how you style and layer the pieces you collect for this costume. You can do captain, sea wench, pirate ghost, pastel pirate, skeleton, etc etc! The possibilities are endless and the more you layer the cooler you look.

3. Kuromi: Okay this is kind of a sneak since I did do this as a duo costume, however, you could easily do any Sanrio character in a group or solo. I loved this one because it was so fun to interpret this character's style language into an outfit I think she would wear in real life. The headband was easy to find online and from there everything else was my interpretation on the costume. This one was a hit, especially since people always compare me to Kuromi.

2. Maka Albarn from Soul Eater: I somehow pulled this one together entirely from what I already had in my closet and it came together perfectly. A lil niche but idc cuz this one was for me 🥰 Might recreate at some point soon since this was during Covid days, but will definitely acquire a scythe this time.

1. Misato Katsuragu from NGE: Again niche but for me. I planned this costume for months! Sourced all the pieces and then customized the jacket to look more like the her's from the show. The devil was in the details here. One of my most iconic costumes and I wish I kept the outfit 😭😭😭

PS: As you can tell, I love getting creative with how I present these costumes on my IG grid as well. Sometimes a typical solo bar or backyard pic will do the trick, but other times your photo needs a lil more pizzazz to communicate the vibe. As you can see I set up shots that more closely replicate the characters I'm dressed as: Snooki at the computer, shipwreck background for the pirate look, a comic book spread for my Maka costume, and a recreated pose of Misato's from NGE with one of her famous quotes as the subtitle.
