When summer hits, all I want is fresh, healthy and flavorful food. And this Seared Ahi Tuna bowl is exactly that🥗✨

Ingredients:

For the Tuna:

• 1 Ahi Tuna Steak (make sure to use a high quality tuna, I bought it at @wholefoods )

• 1/4 cup of soy sauce

• 3-4 tbsp of sesame seeds

• 1 tsp of brown sugar (Sugar helps get the crust nice and golden)

• 1 tsp garlic powder and onion powder

• 1 tsp of ghee or avocado oil

For the sauce:

• 3 tbsp of soy sauce

• 2 tbsp of mirin sauce

• 1 tbsp of rice vinegar

• 1/4 cup of green onions, chopped

• 1 tsp of minced ginger

• 1 tsp of coconut sugar or brown sugar

For the bowl:

• White rice

• 1 Avocado, sliced

• 1 Serrano pepper

• 1 Fresno chile pepper

- Feel free to use the toppings you prefer, if you like a little bit of heat, this combination it’s amazing!

Instructions:

Cook the tuna:

1. In a small plate, place the tuna and pour over the soy sauce, make sure it’s well coated. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.

2. Combined the sesame seeds with the brown sugar, garlic powder and onion powder. Coat the ahi tuna in the sesame seed spice, pressing it into the flesh and coating all sides generously.

3. Heat up the pan over medium high heat, you want the pan VERY hot. Add a tsp of ghee or avocado oil, carefully place the ahi tuna in the pan. Sear for about 45-60 seconds, the goal here is to get a nice golden crust. Turn it over, press down, sear the other side for another 60 seconds. Remove from the pan.

4. Place the tuna on a cutting board, and thinly slice. The edges should be crispy and the inside rare.

For the sauce:

1. In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, green onions, ginger and brown sugar. Mix well.

2. Add to a pan over medium heat. Cook for 2-3 minutes to bring the flavors together.

Assemble the bowl:

1. Add rice as a base.

2. Place the thinly sliced tuna, sliced avocado, Serrano pepper and Fresno pepper (or your favorite toppings)

3. Pour the soy sauce mixture over the seared ahi tuna.

Enjoy!🤌🏻😍
