After my dog died and I was laid off and had to move, I found myself in a hopeless pit. I am 30, and I had never experienced this deep of a depression for.

I knew I needed help but I had no energy or will to do anything to help myself. My executive functioning was dead. This is when I started the 3 thing rule.

If I can accomplish 3 things every day, it’s okay if I rot on the couch for the rest of the day.

I started small where I just cleaned the kitchen, went on a walk and went to the sauna. Three months later, I am keeping a clean house, making content, going on daily runs, chilling in the sauna and so much more.

Start small - but promise yourself three things every day. The small amount of dopamine you will get for this easy consistency will lift you up through depression if you stay dedicated to yourself.
