Corals Journey

I was approached by a lady from my work on July 22nd who no longer was able to care for her turtle and she was struggling with finding someone to take the turtle. She asked me if I would take her turtle and I decided that I was up to the task. I ended up taking her turtle home that night and I was not fully prepared. When I received her she came in a 2.5 gallon that appears like it was designed for betas. I found out that this turtle was raised as a baby and was most likely just never upgraded to a bigger tank. The issue was I didn’t have one, and I couldn’t afford a brand new one. This started the search on Facebook Marketplace! It took us almost 3 weeks to find one in decent shape and in our price range but we were finally able to find a 30 gallon tank for $25. After we had the tank we went to 3 different pet stores and shopped online. We were able to set up her tank about a week or so ago with everything except thermometers and a basking lamp (since we had to order these things online and wait for them to come in the mail) which finally came in the mail this morning! Coral has such a big personality and she is so loved! Me and my partner both are forming our own bonds with Coral and I genuinely think that this was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made on the spot!
