birthday dinner at FICO! 🥳

💭 Thoughts:

This place has always been on my to-go list for so long!!! I remember they used to have a 2 month long waitlist 😱 thankfully now it’s much better! I booked on a weekday dinner so only had to book around 1 month in advance?

Location wise, it really is a very pretty place although slightly inaccessible - definitely need to drive there. Another plus point (and the main reason why I booked it) is that it is pet friendly!! There are indoor and outdoor alfresco dining areas - dogs only allowed in the outdoor alfresco area but there are huge fans and aircons so it’s not hot at all!! In fact, it was pretty windy and cooling - did not feel like we were sitting outdoors hehe

🍴Food:

1. 🍤 Seafood platter - oysters, red prawns, scampi

- fresh raw seafood!! if you are a seafood girlie like me, then this is for you!

2. 🍕 Focaccina - red onions of acquaviva

- the focaccia was so good?? Bread was light with a slight crunch to it

- topping of goat milk blue cheese and red onions with some honey was PERFECT

3. 🐙 Charcoal grilled octopus

- the octopus was so freaking TENDER

- the seasoning was so good as well - blend of chickpeas, thyme and friggitelli !!

4. 🦞 Lobster pasta

- this was their special menu for the night!!

- came with a huge lobster!! And the sauce also had lobster hints in it!!

- spaghetti was done to a perfect al dente!! This was amazingggg

5. 🍝 Mafaldine

- a classic!! with ossobuco

- I think this was my fave amongst their regular pastas!!

6. 🧀 Cacio e Pepe spaghetti

- this is one of their signatures!! If you have it indoors, they will actually come around and cook it in the cheese wheel for you! But since we were at the outdoor alfresco area with a dog, they can’t do that

- this pasta is REALLY CHEESY… so if you are not a huge cheese fan then this may not be for you

- it is so cheesy that a few bites may become a bit jelat! Good to share

5. 🍰 Dessert course - choice of 2 for $15, and every additional dessert is $7. Great to get a bunch and share!!

- we got almost all the desserts they had except for maybe 1 or 2?

(a) Burrata gelato: this was my fave!! Sweet & savory goodness!!! 😋

(b) Guanaja soufflé tart: this was also fantastic!! the chocolate was so gao and gooood!! A dessert that can never go wrong!!

(c) Fico pasticcioto: with cointreau cream, berries and panna acida - this was more cake like and a heavier dessert compared to the rest. Taste waa good but can be quite filling - good to share!!

(d) Vanilla honey panna cotta: loved this too!! Not too sweet, light and delicious!!

(e) Fig & honey sorbet: wah I also loved the sorbet!! because I like sweet and citrusy stuff hahaha

Overall, the desserts were incredible!! I liked that the portion isn’t too big so it’s great to get a few and try a bit of everything!!

6. 🎂 FREE tiramisu choux: they threw in this for free as it was a birthday celebration!! I LOVE tiramisu so this was a nice very welcome surprise!!

YES definitely!! I think it does live up to the hype - good homely Italian food with a seaside view that cannot be beaten!! Total damage was about $500+ for 5 pax which works out to about $100 per person!
