No Passport, No Problem!

There are plenty of island destinations (besides Hawaii) to go without one. There are a total of 16 Territories of the U.S. Of those, 4 don’t require a passport according to USA.gov:

•PUERTO RICO

•NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS

•U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS

•GUAM

🇵🇷PUERTO RICO is not just one island but an archipelago of over 100 islands and islets. 143 actually.

They use the U.S. dollar as their currency and the U.S. drivers license is recognized.

🇲🇵 NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS

Total of 14 Islands with the

Official Languages being English, Carolinian & Chamorro. U.S. dollar is used as currency. Your U.S. Drivers License can be used while vacationing (but If you stay a year or more they suggest getting a Local Drivers License, but they will keep your U.S. License).

🇻🇮U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS

Has 3 main Islands St. Croix, St. John & St Thomas, and 50 other islands.

English is official language and the

U.S. Dollar is used for currency.

Be prepared to show government issued ID when leaving U.S. Virgin Islands to return to the states.

🇬🇺 Guam

English and Chamorro languages are spoken and U.S. Drivers License can be used.

Note:

There is conflicting information regarding the necessity of a passport to enter Guam. It is said that if you are coming directly from the U.S. you can enter without a passport. I highly recommend you do your research to find out specific details.

I highly recommend contacting the Dept. of Health for recommended immunizations to the travel destination of your choosing.

The U.S. Embassy website (above) may be a good place to get updated info regarding travel to these areas.

While I highly recommend getting a passport to travel in general, these are great options while your waiting for your passport.
