“How are your clothes all so cute?”
“Where do you buy your clothes?”
I get these questions a lot, & the answer is by thrifting! In the past, I would hit up Lucky Plaza (the OG thrift shops🙏🏻) once a week, but ever since I started working that routine has gone down the drain lol. Now I stick mostly to Carousell, the app to sell & buy secondhand stuff.
So here’s the question: how do you source for cute fits on Carousell? If you didn’t know, there are actually many hidden gems there, like affordable vintage clothes 🤩
1. Identify the right keywords
Use of words like “coquette”/“y2k” may get you pretty-looking clothes, but they are likely marked up bc sellers know what you’re looking for. Instead, think of brands that resemble the aesthetic you’re finding. Some I search for are espirit, mng, dkny, etc’.
2. Use image search
Will you get exactly what you’re finding? Unlikely, but you may come across something similar, like the cutting/colour shade. Whenever I come across a super cute fit online, I’ll ss & use the image search func to source for similar pieces on Carousell
3. Stalk the sellers
If you come across a listing that kindaaa mimics something you want but not exactly, click into the seller’s profile! Chances are, they are selling clothes with a similar style. Or if you spot a clothing with a brand you like at an affordable price, check if the owner’s selling any other pieces from the same brand! Even better if you’re getting more than one; chances are you can negotiate the price a little ~
Hope that helps you guys thrift on Carousell! If you’ve any other tips, go ahead & comment below ⋆。°✩
