Overthinking about love

“But love will not be present if the grown-ups who parent to not know how to love.” I think about it all the time. How do you learn to love? How you learn how to give a love you didn’t receive.

What if you only know how to love romantically, or platonically but not materially?

How are you supposed to learn that? Can fathers love maternally? Is it possible that my father gave me the maternal love my mother didn’t? When he braided my hair and washed cookie crumbs off my tea set by hand, was that it? It’s all just so confusing. And sometimes I think it’s silly how much I overthink this because it’s not like having kids any time soon. But somehow this line is constantly in my head. #reading #books #bellhooks #allaboutlove
