Back with another book review. Crying in H - Mart by Michelle Zauner. It’s a memoir. Very intimate memoir. About her pain, about “ugly” side of grief, her struggle growing up as Korean - American in America 🎎. About how hard she tried to please her parents (especially her mother) which is one of the reason why she had complicated and tumultuous relationship with her mother and father.💕

The book focuses more on how the author strive trying to navigate her relationship with her mother through the difficult time where she’s in pain knowing that her mother is dying because of cancer and trying to find her identity along the way. So, she’s moving back with her parents to nurse her mother. Trying to heal the relationship with her mother by learning to cook the foods that her mother used to cook for her, foods that she hold dearly.🍜

As you read through this book, you're coming to realize that the book is not intended for anyone to read but for the Michelle Zauner herself. As we can feel the raw and very honest feeling that she describes throughout this book. I surprised how I enjoyed this book. It makes me reflect my own relationship with my parents. To do not taking time for granted. To be grateful that I still have both of them. To say I love them as often as possible. 💖🥰
