You’re paying more for skincare at Don Quijote… 🥹

I KNOW DONKI is like everyone’s paradise when they head over to Japan but let me tell you why I don’t actually like shopping there personally. I’ll always pick the drugstore over Donki at least for skincare!

1️⃣ Limited range

Donki is not a drugstore, it’s an all-in-one retail store.

That being said, while it will carry a selection of staples like Hada Labo and currently trendy products, it will never have the full range! 🫣😭

Mega Donkis in touristy areas will usually only carry products that tourists are buying but you miss out on so many great brands by just limiting yourself to Donki.

Personally a lot of the products I recommend are just not in Donki so HEAD TO THE DRUGSTORE! 😤

2️⃣ Inflated prices

Donki claims it’s a ‘discount store’. I don’t know about the rest of the products but cosmetics are almost never cheaper there. Most of the times, I find them to be more expensive or marked up as compared to if you were to purchase it at a local drugstore. Even WITH TAX FREE.

You’re paying for that convenience of getting everything all in one place, but with how abundant the drugstores are all around, I don’t think it’s worth it.

3️⃣ Stressful

I like my skincare shopping to be stress-free!!!

Leisurely browsing aisles, slowly reading product labels. I HATE BEING SQUEEZED, SQUASHED and RUSHED. Chances are if you head into a Donki you’re heading into overstimulation town with the bright lights, Donki song, tourists crowded around and NOISE!!! 🥴😵‍💫💫

I think most drugstores especially smaller ones offer a much more relaxed shopping experience. If you really have to go to a Donki, avoid the ones in super touristy spots for a calmer experience lol.

If you’re pressed for time Donki is a great option but if you like browsing I promise you drugstores offer a MUCH better experience!!! 😅🤠🙏
