Can this $25 dupe match up to the OG SK-II FTE? 🤔

Have you ever tried SK-II Facial Treatment Essence and thought, wow shit this is the good stuff?

That was me awhile ago, agonising over how I was going to afford a $300+ bottle of essence EVERY FEW MONTHS.

So I tried the Neogen Real Feement Micro Essence, with 93% fermented ingredients, and here are my thoughts on why it makes a dupe-worthy contender for the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence 🤑🤑🤑

*Do note that the $309 bottle is the biggest size, for review purposes I’ll be comparing the prices between the similar sizes.

𝐍𝐞𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞

🍃 𝙄𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨: 93% naturally fermented ingredients, including bifida ferment lysate and saccharomyces ferment filtrate, 17% birch juice, 9% rice water extract

💦 𝙏𝙚𝙭𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚: Lightweight, watery

🤞🏻 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡: Absorbs easily into skin

✍️ 𝙈𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨: I love this — it’s brightening, soothing, hydrating, all in one essence!

The fermented ingredients are great for strengthening weak skin barriers, while the birch juice and rice add a splash of hydration to my combination skin.

In terms of texture and feel, I’d say that Neogen is pretty much bang on, although it does feel a tad less nourishing that SK-II.

I’d like to put a disclaimer that this is not a life-changing product, you won’t see big, drastic changes in your skin.

However, the differences are subtle but noticeable — overall brighter tone, supple and hydrated skin. If you stop using it, you’ll realise that you no longer exude that subtle, healthy glow you get from this.

💦 𝙏𝙚𝙭𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚: Ultra-lightweight and watery

🤞🏻 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡: Absorbs easily into skin

✍️ 𝙈𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨: Compared to Neogen, SK-II has a much shorter ingredient list which focuses on its proprietary PITERA — it’s a testament to how powerful the ferments are and also how effective it is on its own!

Pat it lightly into skin and skin instantly drinks it up. The results are immediate and noticeable — all-round brighter skin and a healthy, “honey” glow. It strengthens my skin and feels very nourishing, like I know good things are being done for my skin (or maybe it’s just the price effect HAHAHA).

It considerably brightened blemishes and sped up skin regeneration. Although I can’t attest to the wrinkles bit, I’m sure it would be amazing to slow down ageing.

Do note it has a strong yeasty smell 😵‍💫

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ CONCLUSION ♥

The Neogen essence isn’t more elegant than the SKII one, in fact, I do like the SK-II one quite a lot and PITERA is an evident powerhouse when it comes to strengthening and brightening skin.

However, with Neogen being able to replicate 80% of its effects, I’d say it’s a real win. I love it’s accessibility to the masses and it is really value-for-money!

Also, ferments are an ingredient that need to be used long-term to effectively see a difference!

I don’t think I’ll be able to drop so much on an essence every two months, so using Neogen works for me and gives me great skin. There’s no point paying once or twice for SK-II and dropping it after, the effects won’t last.

At least for now while I’m still overworked and underpaid, the winner in my books (YES TO DUPING!!!) is the 𝐍𝐞𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 ✌🏻
