Santa Fe Must Do: Día de los Muertos

Have you celebrated the day of the dead before?

I've always wanted to go, but thought that in order to celebrate, I needed to travel to Oaxaca City, Mexico or another Mexican city. To my surprise when I was visiting Santa Fe, New Mexico, the town was buzzing with the excitement of their 2nd annual Dia de los Muertos festival that was happening right in the center of the town.

I had to check it out! It was free to walk around and look at all of the ofrendas and pay my respects to the dead. During the day they had community events starting at 12pm and at night they passed out candles and played the Disney movie Coco. I smiled, cried, and felt moved during this celebration. I highly recommend you visit.
