Hi guys! As I’ve mentioned, we are currently expecting our first born’s arrival very soon. As a first time mum-to-be, I thought I’d share some of the things I’ve struggled with during pregnancy and how I overcame them.

1. Not feeling like yourself - this was especially true in the 1st trimester for me. Nausea, fatigue, no appetite, and other aches and pains were the new norm. I felt like a zombie everyday. What I did to cheer myself up was to go for mani&pedis, eyebrow threading, haircuts, etc that made me feel pampered and good about myself.

2. Keeping it a secret - this struggle was particularly difficult because not only are you dealing with all of those symptoms, but you have to hide it from your closest family and friends. I was super shady and they definitely suspected but I just kept denying it hahaha. What kept me going was planning how I was going to reveal it to them. I did my research on all the cute ways to announce your pregnancy and this kept me happy and excited 🥰

3. Not having anything to wear - ah the self conflict about whether to buy a whole new wardrobe for these next few months or to just look like a hobo the whole time until the pregnancy is over 😂 I was lucky to have free access to my mum and sisters’ closets for me to steal clothes from 🙊 (jk they’re happy to share). So I just bought a few maternity pants and made use of flowy tops and my existing dresses and borrowed from them whenever I needed to.

4. Feeling anxious - there’s a lot of uncertainty when you’re pregnant about how much life (and your body) will change, whether or not I’ll be a good mother, and just a million things to think about. Not to mention the hormones that make your emotions extra haywire. I leaned a lot on my husband, family, and girlfriends through this. Trust me, a good cry will do wonders. Don’t try to hold it all in and accept the support around you.

Sometimes pregnancy can feel like an isolating experience. Just know that you’re not alone and everything will be okay ❤️
