Winter Gardening: Leafy Greens

I got seed mail!

You guys, remember your Leafy Greens (Lettuce, Kale, 🥬 Arugula, etc.) chives, and carrots, can all be started inside NOW where it’s warm, under grow lights— and can be transplanted outside after you slowly acclimate them to the cold and wind over time— they do very well in frost and a good snow / heavy frost makes them taste SWEET and fights bitterness. They can all be grown in containers, too.

You CAN garden in the winter! 🙂

All of these plants would otherwise bolt in the heat of summer and could become bitter/ have slow growth.

Carrots and leafy greens are flowering plants, and the heat tells them to flower. 🙂

October is also the time to plant flower bulbs & onions + garlic 🧄 for a spring & summer/early fall harvest for next year. #wintergardening #growagarden #growyourowngarden #gardening #garden
