Finally tried the nian gao waffle at 日日茶 Ri Ri Cha and it did not disappoint! The crispy exterior with the stretchy nian gao was so good. Have tried so many waffles that were mid but I would definitely return for this one. The duck shit oolong ice cream also paired really well with the nian gao waffle even though the name almost deterred my friend from ordering it.

No, it is not from duck shit nor does it smell like duck shit. The name was given by the farmer in China who discovered this tea and wanted to deter people from stealing his crops. Unlike its name, it smells very floral and aromatic!

Sadly, they do not allow tasting of their ice creams but I guess it’s just another reason for me to come back to try more flavors then!
