Chanced upon @rae πβs book recs and that really triggered my urge to read!! Though such books arenβt my usual genre, something in me decided to take on Raeβs recs and started off withβ¦

Easy-to-read, slice-of-life kind of book. Also resonates with me bc I love secondhand books too (ok except those with too many brown dots π)!! I really enjoyed the weaving together of plots relating to familial love/support and that of opening your heart up to new people despite past hurt. This actually reminds me of the recent healing Kdrama βWelcome to Samdalriβ which pretty much has a TLDR that reads βcome home. It will heal you.β

NLB got me on this one - it said 330+ people were in the queue but it gave me a skip-the-line loan. SIS FELT SPECIAL IN THAT MOMENT, so she devoured the book. I loved this one too - the quirky librarian and her out of the world, unseeming but amazing book recs. & also how the end of each chapter was a fresh start for peopleβs whose lives have been profoundly changed by the books they read π₯Ή. Oh the healing impact we all can have on one another π€

I loved how the book showcased the vast depth of thoughts and musings of an indie bookstore owner. I found myself resonating with many random parts like, βwhat is the point of life?β and her many rhetorical questions with no answers. I also love how she was a really good employer to her bookshop barista, who also grew to be as thoughtful and deep as her. It was an unlikely platonic noona-dongsaeng relationship, but so heartwarming. I also really liked the warm relationships that every character had with the protagonist, how she made them feel seen and acknowledged. And that gentle, warm love line π₯Ί Also this is the VERY FIRST TIME I will say that I LOVED the authorβs note at the end - it was so sincere, so genuine in hoping that people would find their own sanctuaries, healing spaces, cozy corners to be themselves. To grow into someone that they are contented to be AAAA MY SCREAMING HEART!! THIS WAS THERAPEUTIC π€
