I have been struggling with back acne for the longest time, it’s one of my biggest insecurities. Especially since it manifests on the back, where it’s difficult to see, I feel a heightened sense of self-consciousness. #GirlTalk

It’s only last year that I paid more attention to the triggers of my back acne. And this is extremely IMPORTANT in IDENTIFYING and ELIMINATING the root cause of bacne!!

Here are some TRIGGERS that caused my backne:

------ 1. Clothing tags πŸ‘šπŸ”–

My skin is very sensitive to fabric and that applies to clothing tags. Rough fabric can cause my back to flare up and itch. Luckily, most local blogshops and retail stores I shop from have good quality clothes but there are always an occasional few that rubs against my skin, causing bumps and acne to appear.

------ 2. Necklaces 🧣

Oh god, necklaces. This is tricky because I don’t know if it’s the material or the chains used that cause skin irritation. But on days when my skin feels easily irritated or recovering from past breakouts, I will avoid wearing any accessories on my neck to help with the healing!

------ 3. Overexfoliating 🧼

It’s a common understanding that exfoliating helps clear out the dirt on our skin! But OVERexfoliating damages your skin barrier, causing inflammation, rashes, and breakouts. Exfoliating should be done on a consistent basis, usually 2-3 times a week, or less often if your skin is more sensitive!

------ 4. Hair πŸ§–πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Make sure ur hair is clean! The oil from ur hair can seep into your skin and cause acne! Also, ensure ur shampoo and condition are rinsed away properly OR try washing your body AFTER applying shampoo and conditioner to rinse away any pore-clogging ingredients. This is a routine I never knew I needed!

------ 5. Hot showers πŸ›

We love a good hot shower at the end of the day but hot showers are not great for the skin, especially if you have any history of eczema or sensitivity! The heat increases the dryness of ur skin after showering and heightens the sensitivity of ur skin to environmental triggers. So aim to keep your shower lukewarm and in less than 10 minutes!

Other triggers include sweaty clothes, skin care, dirty towels, and sheets. But those are quite self-explanatory!

I hope this gets you to be more aware of ur bacne triggers and take the necessary actions to reduce your bacne accordingly. I have been taking notice for a while, and eliminating what triggers my bacne improved my back so much!! πŸ₯°
