JAP DATE IDEA By A Pool With Affordable OMAKASE

We came across this place during our staycation at Lloyd’s Inn! It was only a 5 mins walk away. I was intrigued by how they had a full scale swimming pool right beside the restaurant.

The restaurant is located at level 4 of an old condominium (336 River Valley Road Condominium) and it just happened that there was a pool right beside it, I doubt anyone uses it though 😂 imagine swimming with diners looking at you. However, the pool did add a nice touch to the ambience.

The food was also 💯! I would definitely come back again and bring my friends here. They 2 types of affordable omakase:

1️⃣ Genzo Omakase (11 Items): S$100

2️⃣ Genzo Executive Omakase (15 Items): S$150

Both includes entree, seasonal sashimi, hot appetiser, seasonal sushi, mains, soup and dessert. The difference for the executive omakase is the main where you’ll get a premium main which typically costs around $68-$88.

We didn’t get the omakase but tried their ala carte menu and here’s our verdict:

🍣 Chirashi Don (8/10): Usually people judge this based on the sashimi and I’d say the sashimi is fresh ! What I liked about it is that they would give you an option to change your base to either salad, soba, somen or soba instead of your usual Japanese pearl rice.

🍣 Century Egg Tofu (8/10): Very yummy! Distinct pidan taste with crab meat and tobiko. I would say this was very worth money given they had real crab meat in it

🍣 Salmon Carpaccio (9/10): Omg guys pleaseeee try this! Sashimi in white truffle oil and homemade shoyu and shaved truffle. This was the real deal is was sooo flavourful!

🍣 Shingen Mochi (7/10): Remember years back there was this trend where everyone was making raindrop Mochi? I finally got to try it here but it was really just normal agar agar with soy bean powder and black sugar syrup. Nothing to shout about but interesting for a photo 🙈

Overall, the menu is super extensive and affordable for good quality Jap food. The bonus was the pool at the side but I’d say to come here for the food instead of the pool 😂
